IND Distribution: Winter 2011 Wrap
Since we last looked at Industry Distribution back in June, not only have they completed more absolutely perfect projects at an ever-increasing rate, but their partnerships and company strategies have resulted in the formation of the IND Group, a climate-altering collaboration of massive proportions. Respected aftermarket names such as 3D Design and Motorsport24 now reside under the same umbrella as IND/Eisenmann NA and the newly-created Victory Road (formerly WSTO).
Any one of these ventures are a formidable force in the tuning world all on their own, but combining such a group of talented and visionary enthusiasts is a step into the future. As hinted at in our last four-part series, alliances such as the IND Group are representative of how the automotive aftermarket and customization arena will trend in the years to come. Forward-thinking is yet another attribute with which to help define Nate, Ilia, Johan, and the entire staff at IND.
Following are merely the headlining projects introduced in the last short six months, including a full film crew capturing a behind-the-scenes documentary and an epic voyage to Germany — say nothing of the influential parts and concepts also presented to the community at large. In 2012 we would have to imagine covering such highlights may well have to be broken down into monthly segments! Audi’s S8 V10 Strikes Back
You may not have been able to order the Audi S8 for almost three years now, but that hasn’t stopped Anderson Germany from unveiling their Superior Gray version, replete with engine and exterior upgrades. Both matte gray and wrapping have been done before, but we’re most interested in the ECU and exhaust combo that increase power from 444hp to 501hp.
Top speed increases to 186mph, and the body gets treated to some smatterings of carbon fiber and a body kit. A monster set of 22-inch wheels seems a bit excessive (and heavy!), as do the slightly tacky-looking fender vents. Anderson completes the cliches inside with more carbon fiber and TV screens. However, until the 2013 S8 emerges, sporting a healthy 520hp and six-figure price tag, a few of these options may make a much less expensive, yet worthy alternative.
